The month of September brings us the Second Harvest of the year, Mabon. It’s the harvest of fruits, the time when anything that can be harvested is so that nothing is left to die on the vine. There once was a time when our ancestors couldn’t let anything go to waste during the harvest because, as crazy as it might seem, a few ears of corn could be the difference between people living or dying during the winter.

In our world today we don’t have quite the same worries, but it is still a time when scarcity can be more common but winter is coming, and the earth lets us know that by showing us the retreating life within nature. This is a time to prepare for the natural retreat of the coming season.
